Spoony Stories - meet Wren! 👋

Welcome to Spoony Stories ❤️🥄 It's official, Spoony has the loveliest community on the planet! It's such a joy getting to know some of the wonderful people on Spoony and learning more about their experiences with neurodivergence, chronic illness and disability.

This week, we've been chatting with Wren from the United Kingdom. They share their experiences with being neurodivergent and disabled, what barriers they've faced with friendships, and so much more! ♥️

Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?

Neurodivergent and disabled.

What health conditions do you have?

Hard of Hearing, ADHD and Autism.

How do you explain your health conditions to other people?

It depends on the person. It’s not easy and often comes with difficult reactions, so I mostly share it with people I trust.

What impact do your health conditions have on your daily life?

My conditions affect me everyday. Sometimes being Autistic and Hard of Hearing is a difficult combination because I can get really overstimulated and exhausted from communicating with others.

What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?

Connecting with other people has been difficult for me over the years. Social situations are very draining and I usually feel like the odd one out. Most of the time, I end up feeling overstimulated and stressed, it can take a lot out of me.

What's been your experience on Spoony so far?

I really like going on Spoony and finding other people who can relate to my experiences. The design of the app is very soothing too.

Each week, we share stories from the incredible Spoony community in our newsletter, podcast, and on social media. Share your story with us.
