Welcome to Spoony Stories ❤️🥄 It's official, Spoony has the kindest community on the planet! It's such a delight to get to know some of the lovely people who make Spoony so darn wonderful and learning more about their experiences with neurodivergence, chronic illness and disability.
This week, we've been chatting with Stephanie from the United States. She shares about what it's like to live with multiple complex conditions, why she loves spending time on Spoony, and so much more! ♥️
Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?
Chronically ill, neurodivergent, and disabled.
What health conditions do you have?
PCOS, ADHD, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes Type 2 and Chronic Back Pain.
How do you explain your health conditions to other people?
I don't really explain myself anymore, it’s easier than the alternative. In the past, people have been cruel and made assumptions about my health.
What impact do your health conditions have on your daily life?
It has a huge impact on my life, I’m always in a lot of pain. I currently use a wheelchair to help me get around.
What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?
I’ve really struggled with friendships. I was bullied badly when I was younger because of my weight, and because I’m neurodivergent.
What's been your experience on Spoony so far?
Spoony has made a big difference in my life, it’s helped me realise that there’s people like me out there. I love reading other people’s stories.
Each week, we share stories from the incredible Spoony community in our newsletter, podcast, and on social media. Share your story with us.
