Spoony Stories - meet Jennifer! 👋

Welcome to Spoony Stories ❤️🥄 There's no place like Spoony, that's for sure! We have the loveliest community and it's been so much fun getting to know some of the wonderful people on Spoony and learning more about their experiences with neurodivergence, chronic illness and disability.

This week, we've been chatting with Jennifer from Canada. She shares what it's like being disabled and neurodivergent, how her health conditions affect her everyday life, and so much more! ♥️

Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?

Neurodivergent and disabled.

What health conditions do you have?

Autism, hEDS, and ADHD.

How do you explain your health conditions to other people?

I explain that my connective tissue disorder makes my joints feel like an elastic band that gets overstretched. I don't always feel the pain until it's too late.

What impact do your health conditions have on your daily life?

I experience pain every single day, which takes a toll on my life. It's also hard to manage my condition and I have to see a lot of specialists to make sure I don't injure myself.

What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?

It's difficult to get to know people who are not disabled or neurodivergent, because they don't understand what I'm going through.

What's been your experience on Spoony so far?

Spoony has made a big difference in my life. I love how the Spoony community has helped me feel less guilty about needing to rest and recuperate. Plus there's so many handy tools to help make my experience on the app more comfortable.

Each week, we share stories from the incredible Spoony community in our newsletter, podcast, and on social media. Share your story with us.
