Spoony Stories - meet David! 👋

Welcome to Spoony Stories ❤️🥄 There's such a genuinely wonderful community on Spoony. It's such a delight to get to know some of the brilliant folks who make Spoony such a welcoming space, and learning more about their experiences with neurodivergence, chronic illness and disability.

This week, we've been chatting with David from United Kingdom. He shares what it's like being neurodivergent, his experiences with employment, and so much more! ♥️

Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?

Neurodivergent.

What health conditions do you have?

Autism, ADHD, and Depression.

How do you explain your health conditions to other people?

I try to be open about being neurodivergent to dismantle the stigma around it. Although, it's not always easy and can cause stress.

What impact do your health conditions have on your daily life?

I've struggled with employment and I haven't been able to work full time in a while. It's hard to get accommodations I need to succeed in the workplace.

What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?

Connecting with other people has always been difficult for me. I often feel like the odd one out and social situations usually make me feel stressed and overwhelmed.

What's been your experience on Spoony so far?

There's so many wonderful people on Spoony. I've enjoyed getting to know other people who understand what it's like to be neurodivergent.

Each week, we share stories from the incredible Spoony community in our newsletter, podcast, and on social media. Share your story with us.
