Bindi Irwin Advocates for Endometriosis Awareness

Conservationist, zookeeper and actor, Bindi Irwin, opened up about her experience with Endometriosis to shine a spotlight on the debilitating condition and highlight the devastating impact it can have on women and people assigned female at birth (AFAB).

“I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak,” the conservationist wrote in a post on Instagram.

Irwin shared her experiences of living with Endometriosis for 13 years to encourage others not to accept pain as normal.

Recently, Irwin joined forces with the World Health Organisation to raise greater awareness and promote change in how the condition is seen and treated by healthcare professionals.

“We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health. It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale,” she wrote on Instagram.

By advocating for change, Irwin is helping to break the silence around Endometriosis and push for better recognition of a condition that’s too often misdiagnosed and dismissed in women and people AFAB.
